windows 8 is fail for desktops
now i dont know about everyone else, but i really dont like what windows 8 is.

watch the video.
There is desktop mode still, but there is hardly any difference from windows 7 so far. I hope between now and windows 7's release it gets changed a ton.
Your thoughts?

That is just the tablet UI, meaning that if WIndows 8 detects that a tablet is the hardware you're running on it'll switch to that Metro UI. The good ol' Aero UI is still the standard and you can switch between them. It's nothing more than a fancy new skin.
Also, ever tried to run Metro with a mouse and keyboard? It's not half bad.

There is a reason these are called milestones, they arent the finished product. When they announce the beta sign up for it. So many things will change.

Remember Longhorn's Plex UI? And how different it looked from Vista's Aero?
There's no point bawwing about the UI right now coz it may change a lot.

The word "Prototype" in the link made me disregard this as something I don't need to worry about yet.

The only one "bawwing about it" is the OP. No one is forcing you to get it.

Re: windows 8 is fail for desktops
I know its going to change between now and release, but i hope it is absolutely nothing like this.
They said in the video that it will be running on all hardware, not just tablets, and im just saying it is fail for desktops, Tablets it would be really cool for, not so much for desktops. It might be cool as a media center like thing, but not as the main os(which is how i understand it is currently).

It CAN run on all hardware with resolution over 1024x728, but it's your choice in the end, default UI on tablets will be Metro, on desktop it probably won't. It's clearly interchangeable, though. It's not much different from installing Rainmeter to get a tablet-friendly UI in WIndows 7. Metro is awesome and should really just replace every aspect of the UI for good. I think it sucks that we have to resort to Aero to get different functionality.
