I was just about to post this.
I hate every last one of you Avenged Sevenfold fans right now.

I saw on someone's comment to that note, calling Avenged Sevenfold a "yoko".
And f*ck. I totally agree with them.
If Mike can make a7x as good as they were about 3-4 years ago, then that's all fine with me. In fact I'll be glad if he does that, but I still hate the fact that he left Dream Theater.
Not saying I hate Mike, I still respect that he did what he did. But I still **** hate that he's leaving DT for avenged sevenfold.
Re: Mike Portnoy leaves Dream Theater
I get that the man has to follow his heart, and as much as I don't like Avenged Sevenfold, I do respect them as musicians, people, etc.
But still. This sucks.
It's no secret Mike always wanted DT to play bigger shows and be more 'well-known', so I can't help but wonder if that was the deal breaker when he started playing with Avenged Sevenfold.
Total conjecture, of course.

It's not that he wasn't well known enough he is just tired of working his ass of 24/7 I'm sure. Having a gig with someone else's band must be much more easy in comparison

People change bands all time. It's not like this a new concept or anything.

Vedi's post I get, Slashfan, you're still a moron.
Regardless of the reasoning, whether it be money or a relaxed gig, it still sucks.

Jordan Rudess could be the new drummer.
Drumming on the keyboard is the way to go.

Indeed.
Again, despite how upsetting the change to Dream Theater is and how much I may be raging at the moment, it's a good thing that he is doing what he wants to do.
