Lawl.

I always knew the ps3 would eventually get hacked. It took 3 & 1/2 years but someone finally did it.

Probably likely that sony will be like lolpatch, though.

It was cool, cause when I had friends over, they would download the songs they wanted to play, so there was no complaints like "your dlc sucks".

No wonder Australia's suicide rate is the highest in the world.

It's just an injunction, no one's been charged with anything yet. Sony have just had it stopped until they can prove it's illegal in whichever countries they can. If they can't prove its illegality the chip will be back on sale.

I'd really rather be able to play online with my 10-11 games then to play ISOs without online multiplayer capabilities.

The dongle is gone, but the code for the exploit is in the wild:
http://apexnewsnetwork.com/26711/ozmodc ... -ps3-hack/

As expected, the solution to this ban is that people will be able to buy USB hardware that is not pre-loaded (since it cannot be banned in that condition), and then load the exploit software themselves. It will be interesting to see what kind of homebrew comes up if all of the hardware can be accessed, since some of the important stuff was restricted back when other OSs were allowed on the console.

It still will be locked away, the PS2 had the same, also ran Linux, and even after hacked only a portion of it's processing power was used.

Look up PSNPhucker for PSP. You can still play pirated games on PSN.

Well, Sony went ahead and blocked it in the latest firmware:
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20015718-1.html

They probably made the debug boot mode less sloppy with authenticated access to it. Quite possible that it will be broken into again. And there's always the possibility that the PS3 hacking community will be able to alter the firmware update to not break PSGroove, so users can just install a patched update.
