i just got a second hard drive for windows 7 ONLY (it only has the system files, no programs or other files) and my old drive that i use for programs still has the old WINDOWS system folder and i want it gone because that is my purpose for getting a second hard drive.
when i try to delete it it wont let me and i understand that.
but is there any way of getting that of my hard drive short of reformating my hardrive?

Oh God, I had this problem for a while. My dad and I went into the command prompt, he threw a few lines around and it was gone... you have to revoke the administrative block on it somehow.

Re: help with dual hard drives
It might be as simple as taking ownership of the folder and giving yourself permission to the folder and all contents. Here's kind of an example:

Just change the details accordingly for your particular situation.

Re: help with dual hard drives
Why can't you just backup what data you do have on the drive and reformat just that drive? As you said, Win7 is on the other drive so you won't lose your OS and settings.

Re: help with dual hard drives
Because getting NTFS permission to delete the folder is less work and a lot faster.
