Emotional Gaming Moments

Postby mitch951 » Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:34 am

Ever had any really emotional moments?
Mine include:
Fallout 3, specifically James' sacrifice, having to kill Ryan in Bioshock, Dom shooting Maria in GOW2, being betrayed by Shephard in MW2, the nuke dropping in COD4, the part in Legend Of Zelda:Majora's Mask where you heal the gibdo guy to get the mask and the part where you obtain the goron mask.

True but it never pulled me in quite like 7. Way too many plotholes and a storyline that really does push the limits of what one can believe, even in a fantasy game.

Spoiler:When I caught them all in Pokemon.

dance along the fault line; feel the shaking in your bones,
lose the tension in my throat, and live for something.

You guys should also mention what game you're talking about beforehand, otherwise using the spoiler tag is pointless.

Metal Gear Solid

Spoiler:It was the first game I played where I actually got into the story and cared about what was happening. Sniper Wolf's death was pretty :crying:.

Siren: Blood Curse

Spoiler:The very end was so badass and unexpected that I couldn't stop smiling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mtlCan15KU

Spoiler:In the Ocarina of Time, every part near the end of the game when you face Ganon was emotional. Every time Link is hit, you can hear Zelda sort of yell out, like she's feeling the same pain. It was executed very well, and created a huge epic moment.

In Breakdown for the Xbox, the most emotional moment in that game is losing this one fight to a superhuman named Solus, and he kicks you into the wall, and all you can do is watch your chick partner try to stop him, and she ultimately is defeated and flies back into you. In tears, she tells you that you have to save the world, and then she perishes. A nuke then pierces into the area, and as it blows up, everything goes white. That moment was extremely emotional, and to this day I still play through that game to experience that moment.

Also in that game, after revealing that a special time loop hole called the pendulum effect brings you forward in time without being dead after the nuke, you meet up with older versions of the characters, and one gives you a serum that boosts your powers. Once again the pendulum effect takes you away, but brings you back in time. This time however, you get to save the characters that died previously. It's really cool and amazing how they came up with it. The music is brilliant and queues in just the right times to create powerful moments.

Silent Hill 3 has an emotional moment where Heather, the main character, returns home after dealing with a series of exhausting and frightening events to find her father murdered. Silent Hill 2 also had a few, the most memorable being the part where James watches a tape that shows that he really killed his wife by smothering her to death with her pillow, much to the horror of a little girl named Laura, who watches it with him.

Half Life 2 had a pretty instilling moment near the end when Alyx gives you the Super Gravity Gun and turns the elevator on for you to let you go fight Dr. Breen. The music was epic, and the dialog from Alyx let you know that you were about to go kick some serious ass.

Metal Gear Solid, after killing every boss, you were treated to a sort of historical background of each character, and it revealed a lot of how they came to be. It was pretty powerful, especially when you kill Sniper Wolf, because Otacon loves her, and has to say goodbye to her. It's also one of the most climatic sequences in any game I've ever played, as shortly after, you have to destroy Metal Gear, and Liquid.

The end of FF10.

Spoiler:We saw it coming when we learned that Tidus was a dream of the Faith, but it was still shockingly sad - especially the pseudo-hug before he leaps into the clouds.
