Which play Style Suits you?

Postby Acedia » Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:12 am

Alright, for the guys that don't know me, I'm creating "another" GH/RB clone with networking support called Rockfan. However i need some feed back, i'm getting conflicting wants and needs, from my development team.

When playing a new clone what Play style would you like to see?

I like the idea of open strums.

Three Styles...

1) Guitar Hero Pre- Topo's and Open Notes :
Strict hit windows, No Open Notes, and No ability to Tap on Tap off notes without hitting the strum key/button.

2) Guitar Hero Post - Topo's and Open Notes:
Rockband Note Windows, with Open notes (Purple strum only Note) for bassists, Ability for Tap on Tap off's without hitting Strum key/button.

3) Rockband :
Rockband Note Windows, No Topo's and no Open notes.

Massive amounts of Changes have taken place. I actually got a job with a development company, and am building their in-house game engine, I also got bummed out with the amount of crap i was dealing with on the Forums here. But needless to say. I'm not here for that. I'm here to see what you guys like as a play style, I dont' have enough people on my forums to give me a definitive answer.

Why not add all of it and add toggle switches for all of it? Seems to be the best solution. That's sort of what FoFiX does.

Where leaving that open for the moding aspect of the game. Right now were just dedicating ourselves to getting One Play style type for the Game, and then allowing for Custom Modifications to stuff like that later.

In that case, I'm sure the general consensus here will be rockband 2 style.

Looks like that may be the case so far. Which is funny cause on our side, it's split between the GH versions. I like RB, better, and it seems to be the consensus over here. So after a couple of more days, i'll check the polls again, and do a final assestment. Thanks to all those that voted so far.

If I may, where's the forum located? I would like to have a visit. And, if I'm not mistaken, shouldn't you be developing FrontMan(Guitar Zero 2)?

I'm not a big fan of the open notes.. And I'm really not a big fan of the engine before it from GHIII.. I've always thought GHII had the best engine out of all the GH/RB games. I know RB is pretty similar, but eh, it has some pretty significant differences, and none of which I really care for
