The past 2 weeks...

Well actually, the past 2.5 weeks, but anyways...

If anyone has played MapleStory, then you will know exaactly what I'm talking about. If you don't it's your choice whether you keep reading. o.o

EITHER WAY!

So about 3 weeks ago, I decided to give making a MapleStory v62 Private Server another chance after failing a year ago. I got everything set up, and started out hosting it on Hamachi (VPN software). It was nice, and I managed to get a few people to play it that I knew, but I wanted it to get bigger. I added myself on a few of the top sites and people came flooding in. I even posted a few vids on YouTube, which might have helped. Regardless of where it was from, everyone wanted to play MapleBS (my private server name o.o)

So things picked up a lot and I was loving it. People on all the time to manage and crap, which is what I was after, since I like being in control of things. o.o This entire time, I was just hosting it on my own computer. However, with my dad's help, I was able to eliminate Hamachi and even get a website up along with a forum, and things were looking good... but then...

After a while, the tide of people flowing into my server never slowed down. After only 2 weeks, I have near 1000 registered accounts and over 1300 characters created. In the beginning, I thought that would be fine, but it wasn't. My computer and my internet connection was not made to host a lot of people (80+ on the server) at once. In the beginning, I didn't think it would get to be so high anyways (since most Pservers don't break about 50 concurrent users). Was this the end for MapleBS?!

Unfortunately, I had to tell my players goodbye earlier this evening, and shortly after, I held a goodbye event. It was very sad in my opinion, and everyone esle seemed to agree. Several people offered to donate to keep the server topside, but I had to decline (because there is no way I woudl get enough to pay for a dedicated server).

All in all, I've spent the last 2.5 weeks of my life doing something I wanted to do for a while, only to find out it wouldn't work... lol It was fun while it lasted... xD

Idk why I posted this, I jsut felt like telling the story of MapleBS! :o

No but I don't play the actual game much. I just wanted to make a server. o.O

Which failed...

So basically I'm done with it from the looks of things now... lol
