OHSHI-- I Think it's time for a new monitor...
Topic title says it all...
My reasons behind this assumption?
1: The screen occasionally flickers from time to time (I know that's normal on CRTs like this one)
2: The screen occasionally flashes white from time to time
3: The screen even less occasionally fades into white before snapping back to reality (varying degrees of fading level. Sometimes it just lightens a bit, sometimes it's a total whiteout).
Am I right on this one?

I would think so. While you're at it, send me one. I'm using a LCD television as my monitor. Broke my laptop screen.
OFF TOPIC: Have you FC'd Gilberto Concerto yet? :P

Yeah, you need a new one before that one gives you epilepsy.

Nah, not yet. More than likely going to have to get FOF onto PS3 before I'll be able to thanks to the damn lag.
And no, you can't have one. I don't even have a spare for me

Re: OHSHI-- I Think it's time for a new monitor...
I had similar things happening with my monitor so i bought another one
5 monitors in a row later it kept happening
then I discovered it was my graphics card being bonky and now I'm using a really old but reliable geforce 2

Atleast your's hasn't gone as bad as mine yet.
An amusing story though, 30 minutes from my monitor going "flat", my dad walks in with a new 19" widescreen. He didn't even know the old one was busted! Now that is some good timing!
Also, what was my first thought after seeing my monitor go bonkers?
"F*CK YEAH! Now I can use widescreen backgrounds on my desktop!"
My thoughts after seeing the new monitor?
"F*CK YEAH! I can continue using widescreen backgrounds on my desktop!"

Re: OHSHI-- I Think it's time for a new monitor...
MY friends laptop has a kickass monitor. His dog jumped on it so it fell to the floor and now over 3/4 of it is dead, only the top left corner works and it has some black spots in it too. Bottom right is half-dead, when positioned correctly the start menu is visible. Excluding that, the laptop is works decently so he plays Megaman 4 on it.
My old laptop had a sweet monitor problems too before it died completely: "Place your hand on it for inverted colors and random death areas!"

Gebbs, looks like all you needed to do was just change the options on the monitor. Some games can wreak havic on you monitor's settings (Especially CRT monitors like you have).
The monitor I use on my Ubuntu desktop has flowers burned into the screen. You can only see them when the screen is all white. It's awesome. Picked it up at a garage sale for $10. Good thing I did too because 3-4 weeks after I did so, my old monitor started to put off a burning smell. Thing worked fine and still does but something in it is burning up pretty good.

Well shiiiiiiiiiiit. Mine's actually running on a GeForce2. The MX 400, but still.
Must be time to dust the card again...
Or I can just try a new monitor first.
