Guitar Hero or Rockband
This is not a thread to see what you think is better.
I want you to tell me which one you think I should get.
Here is some Pros and cons about both games.
GHWT pros:
The songs are awsome [IMO]
The songs are more diffucult
Drums are more realistic
Guitar tapper thingy
GHWT cons:
Drums break easily [from what i hear]
Some songs may be over charted.
Some songs may not have enough Guitar parts [ehem, what ive done]
Rockband 2 Pros:
More songs
You are able to rip previous songs and DLC's
Songs are "harder" then before
Instruments make noise individually as well as you stereo
Drums are softer
Rockband 2 Cons:
IMO the songs are still too easy
Practicly nothing has changed besides songs
Drums only have 4 hats [compared to GH]
I thought I was for sure gonna get GH but after I played it at best buy, I started to thing otherwise
HELP ME!

Re: Guitar Hero or Rockband
I voted RB2, just for the fact that it has been out a little longer and there's more content. Now, when GH:WT has been out for a little while, and has more DLC, then I'd suggest relooking at it. Plus, you can see what the custom songs will shape up to be, and whatnot.
You should call your **** a WMD.

Re: Guitar Hero or Rockband
GHWT waaaay undercharts some drums (look up Satch Boogie) and Painkiller and Panic Attack are plenty hard (the megadeth and evile DLC are also quite good)

Re: Guitar Hero or Rockband
I don't believe you can compare the two, because Harmonix was just making an update with some gameplay fixes and some other whatnot.
GH:WT was doing was seemed to be a pretty big overhaul of their game with other instruments, song maker, characters, etc...
The question you have to ask is do you want a solid game that was more worried about gameplay this go round or do you want a new game that will more than likely have its fair share of mistakes?
(This is not to say RB doesn't have any mistakes)
I would wait to get GH:WT.....Go rock band for now. Though I would only get the mic and drums from rock band and stick to a GH controller. I have yet to try the RB2 controller so I don't know if the strum bar and buttons have been fixed to be more like guitar hero. (I heard they have made progress though)

Difinatly GH:WT! the songs are better and harder. Also, the dGH:WT drums don't break easily, It's the RB ones that do!

*waves the "Both" flag.*
Harmonix = Good quality song choices, fretting can be a bit strange.
Neversoft = Variable quality song choices, fretting can be a bit OTT, but definately makes sense (Yes, even TTFAF.)
Note that I'm (currently) on a PS2, so I can't talk about customization, online, or DLC.

Re: Guitar Hero or Rockband
GHWT drums + FoF. Cheaper, better and you can have all songs sooner or later. GHWT drums because RB2 won't be out here before 2010 if they f*** things up like with RB1.
@BSRaven: TTFAF made sense to you? Explain.
@Puppetz: Songs are easy, but the game isn't. Of course all the songs in that are easy in FoF when you could just mash your head against the keyboard and pass them. There's a reason why people don't play FoF songs with toughest settings, that's because it's freaking impossible (well almost, I passed 20th Century Boy with hotpants+GH2).

Re: Guitar Hero or Rockband
I have to say, I did like RB1's DLC the same as GH3's. They both had a couple of good packs
GOOD GH# DLC
------------------
the guitar battles
the dragonforce pack
GOOD RB DLC
----------------
Avenged sevenfold pack
disturbed pack

Thrash pack
Metallica pack
Pack with Shockwave
Screaming for Vengeance
Black Sabbath pack
All That Remains pack
Shinedown pack
System of a Down pack
Roadrunner pack
Both Crüefest packs (did I get that right)
Pack with Electric Crown
Peace Sells
RHCP album + earlier songs
The Who
Considering DLC, RB wins. RB has more good DLC than GH has at all.

Re: Guitar Hero or Rockband
GHWT Pros--
Some Pretty cool songs
One extra note for drums and bass
Song creation
WT Cons--
Some awful songs and live songs to go with the cool songs
Drum issues (break easy, only two cymbals, very odd starpower activation)
Limitations on song creation
Awful DLC (NEW oasis (as compared to old), NEW REM, all new crap)
Not as many songs (85 compared to 84+23)
Large hit window
Over+under charts
RB2 Pros--
More songs to choose from (because of the next pro)
20 (+3) Free DLC songs
Insanely good DLC (5 albums, 1 best of pack, bands like Boston, The Who, RHCP, Megadeth, Metallica, Evile, Disturbed, The Offspring, SOAD, A7X, Nirvana, Rush, Judas Priest, The Cars, The Police, Machine Head, OLD Oasis, Motley Crue, Muse, etc, over 200 songs for DLC)
Weekly DLC releases
RB1 songs transfer to RB2 for only $5
3 Cymbals add-on for drums
Better UI
Multiplayer challenges, etc
Great graphics
Better Hit window
Cool community features for your band on the Rock Band website
RB2 Cons--
Iffy guitar (RB1 guitar is pretty bad, RB2 guitar is improved quite a bit)
Some songs you probably won't liken (Paramore, Bikini Kill, etc lul)
No true solo mode
PS3 issues (or so I've heard)
No song creation
No guitar creation

Bear in mind that earlier on in the post I'd said that sometimes they go a little OTT (OVer The Top, for those not in the loop), which is how TTFAF made sense (exception: Red Snake. Stil makes sense when you consider that they're EAR fretters)
