Another Century's Episode 3: THE FINAL (PS2)
Softmodding this thing has given me a lot of new opportunities. And I'm happy about it.

I think I'm about 75% through Mass Effect 2, so far it has been garbage. This might just be the most overrated game ever.
Started playing Hitman 2 for a second time (first time was 5+ years ago). Playing on normal because the AI is psychic and murderous, so far it has been quite good.

I still don't get why people dislike this game.
That said, you'll hate the end. It was by far my least favorite part, and I loved it.

Re: Game you're currently playing?
The combat is repetitive and dumbed down (no grenades, covers work too well), the dialogue is bad and the story takes forever to begin, assuming it begins at all.aander91 wrote:I still don't get why people dislike this game.
Re: Game you're currently playing?
I love the game to death but nothing really happens. The bulk of the "story" is essentially just adding depth to characters.

You forgot the degraded technology from the first game (Why the hell do I have to reload now), also the extremely boring combat that is just generic shootan and they removed most of the RPG elements. Mass Effect 2 is a story (not even a good story HURR YOU DIED AND FELL INTO ATMOSPHERE AND BURNED TO NOTHING BUT WE STILL SAVED YOU!) driven shooter, not an RPG.
Re: Game you're currently playing?
I dunno, I found the combat to be fun. Combat wasn't the entire game, and the contrast made it enjoyable for me. Also, the sheer amount of content has to count for something. To me, the game just feels like the devs really put a lot of work into it. The game is highly polished, the graphics and sound are fantastic, and I've only hit one bug, which was patched already when I ran into it, and it was a very minor bug.
Re: Game you're currently playing?
Starting to play Planescape Torment. Why have I not played this sooner?
I was wrong... maybe

Yeah, hihgly polished but lacks actual content. I'd be okay with adding depth to the characters if
A) It wasn't forced down your throat
B) The characters mattered at all. Half of the people gathered have nothing noteworthy to contribute, weren't in ME1 and are only got because the illusive man said so.
The ending by the way was very good. It was like 95% of the content was in the last 5% of the game.
Awesome game, I stopped playing like 10 hours in when I lost my savefiles.Rapt0r wrote:Starting to play Planescape Torment. Why have I not played this sooner?
Re: Game you're currently playing?
There's also the point that since just about all of them can die, you can't make any of them matter. Bioware has a poop tier writing team. The worst part about ME2 was probably the fact that included the ability to bring your save file over. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR ACTIONS in ME1 DIDN'T MATTER FOR POOP in ME2. Let the council die? No one cared. Saved them? No one cared. The difference? Nothing at all.
Re: Game you're currently playing?
Actually a lot of potential conversations can't happen if you let the council die. Most of the turians hate you and you'll get a lot of sht from other species as well, surprised you missed that.
But yeah, it's not a huge difference, but what were you expecting? To have 82 different endings where every small detail in your choices in the first game has a major effect on the ending of ME2?
