Raptor, Karma and AVA are free to play mmofps. Like I said, FPS aren't really my thing so I'd rather not pay for them but as a software developer I'm also not the kind of guy to illegally download software.

I enjoy offline FPS's, like Fallout 3. I'd rather play that bug fest then play mw2.
When New Vegas comes out my life will be over.

I really don't think there there have been ANY new shooters that I would call "innovative" or "refreshing". Standard military shooters even less so. Maybe Mass Effect and Borderlands? Borderlands had a lot of cool stuff that you usually wouldn't mind in shooters, and I thought the engine was excellent. Mass Effect, well, I shouldn't have to explain this one, although I thought the first was better than the second.


Also, I couldn't get into Fallout. Don't know why, I just got bored of it.

Well, no poop, it's an opinion. I don't know what beta you played but it certainly wasn't MoH.

The opinion thing was partly a joke and partly me saying "would you mind pointing out why you think it's crap?" in a sarcastic manner.

Also, I did, in fact, play the beta for the new Medal of Honor multiplayer, and it was, in fact, fun. There were things I didn't like (such as how things are unlocked, but that might be negligible if they give you more guns in the full version, which they almost certainly will) but it was, overall, quite fun.

Point #1: I don't "hate" Diablo. I thought it was an ok game but not my style. I'll probably end up trying Diablo 3 when it comes out. And what relevance does this have in the first place?

Point #2: They added more weapons and the killstreak rewards and they tweaked the way the game plays just enough for me to honestly say that, yes, I believe they went above MW1. No, it wasn't a total redesign, no it wasn't a total departure from MW1, but they didn't just copypasta and add shiny new bloom effects.

Also, since when does "casual" = "THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER IT SUCKS IT SHOULD DIE IN A FIRE!"? I'm sorry, but games like CSS (which I'm assuming you wouldn't call casual? any other examples?) seriously tick me off. Some of us don't have the time to invest in becoming even a competent player in games like that. In CSS, you're either really good, or you die in the first 10-30 seconds of each round, almost without exception.

I considered Fallout 3 just like Oblivion RPG wise. My friend never got into Oblivion but we still have Falloutathons at my house from time to time.

Lol, you don't have to be good to win in CSS. Learn to play as a team and you'll win every round regardless of player skill.

Also, the "mmofps" genre is absolute poop. I've never been able to say that about an entire genre until this arrived. The name itself is retarded because the games are not even close to being MMOs. It's not more of an MMO than CoD is. Oh, I forgot. Enjoy your cashshops and unbalanced gameplay.

Also, it seems people either like Oblivion and hate Fallout 3 or like Fallout 3 and hate Oblivion. I'm an Oblivion guy myself.

Me too. I loved Oblivion, but I couldn't get into Fallout, and I find that weird cause I'm a sucker for the whole "destroyed beauty" kind of crap, a la Myst. But I don't know, maybe it was the incessant amounts of gore? Like the gorebags, was that really necessary? Also, I lol'd at CS being referred to as a game that you need to "invest in becoming even a competent player in" because my first game of CSS was amazing, it was just so easy to kick ass. Sure, you died a lot, but that's the style of the game play. It's just run and open up. I also thought it was strange that you said this, because MW2 WAS a game that I had to invest time into to become competent. Hell, I'm still not competent, and you can check my Steam profile to see how many hours I dumped into that crap.

I dunno, maybe I'm just better at one kind of shooter. I suck ASS at CoD when there are a lot of players (something like 4v4 works quite well for me), but in games like Halo/2, I can top the leader boards every time online with minimal effort.

I am already aware of such things as I've played plenty. All MMOFPS are pay to win. After playing around 18 different mmos (not just fps) I expect as much.

They're called massively multiplayer online first person shooters because there are thousands or millions of players; however just because there are that many players it doesn't mean they all have to be on and interacting with each other for it to be an mmo. It's the fact that that many players exist and that the only mode of play is online that makes them MMOs.

You are so wrong. For a game to be "Massively multiplayer", the multiplayer HAS to be massive. It has absolutely nothing to do with how many people play the game, but how many people are playing the same game in the same world together. By that definition, Counter Strike is an MMO. Team Fortress 2 is an MMO. Halo is an MMO.

These "MMOFPS"s are about as much of an MMO as Guild Wars is.
