Would you be happier if they said "No, we're not going to release a fourth Guitar Hero"?
yes
Oh, yeah, because the prospect of possibly being able to get songs from it is just silly huh? Geez audro, another great post.
Where would Frets on Fire be without Guitar Hero, I wonder.

I don't have any desire to play GH3 songs why would I want to play GH4 ones
it's also likely the GH4 charts either wont work or will have to be edited a bunch in order to work because of all the stupid slide gimmicks they are adding
Frets on Fire was made way before GH3 came out

I didn't say Guitar Hero 3. Read: I said Guitar Hero. Meaning, in general. Frets on fire wouldn't have near as much of the following it does if two years ago, people couldn't import GH1 and 2 songs into the game. I'm pretty sure I have been playing for almost two years, so I know what came out first.
You post a lot of selfish posts sometimes, you may not have the desire to play songs from GH:WT, a lot of other people do. The world does not revolve around what Audro wants.
As far as Frets not being able to handle GH:WT songs, sure that is a possibility. But I remember being told two years ago that Whammy and Star power were impossible. Then Coffee showed up. I also remember being told Rock Band songs would never work too, look what Cama has for us in Tune Posting.
Who knows, maybe there can be a function to detect that the midi is a GH4 midi, and the game would realize it needs to turn on open notes. Maybe an open note = "on" function in the song .ini to tell the game that the song has open notes, so the open note feature (once it is coded) should be enabled. It wouldn't be too hard to code, I think. And it would be a damned simple solution.
I'm tired of people being so damned pessimistic when they aren't coders. If you know how it works, and what you are doing, damn near anything is possible. Doubt is the biggest deterrent. And this forum has been full of it forever.
People have said in the past that Star Power, Killswitch/whammy, drums, Rock Band songs, and many other things weren't possible, and look at where we are now. I say this to you people thinking GH:WT, three player, online multiplayer, and vocals will be impossible: Shut. Up.
Stop doubting the code, instead, encourage the coders.
Of course, you probably just play custom Frets songs on a keyboard without whammy or starpower, and have never played Guitar Hero before in your life right? I know that's wrong, Alarian fanboy. Maybe I thought songs in Rock band were too easy, but you won't find anything in my post history saying that they shouldn't be imported because they are too easy, hell that would be counter-productive to Frets on Fire.
[/end rant]
Don't take this personally, just try to be more positive, and less selfish. I really think this stuff can be done, and I think it is damn near irresponsible as a member of the community to suggest that it is impossible to get the songs (Without knowing programing) that the songs can't be imported in the future, and to expand on that by insinuating they shouldn't, simply because you don't like them.
Oh, i think I have come up with an ingenious solution to the open note issue in the process of this rant. If only I knew more python.
Don't think I meant to group in those two lines I wrote, I didn't meant to say that it would be impossible to import GH4 songs just because the game was created around GH1 and GH2, I know it's sort of an evolving process
I was just saying that I don't like GH3 and I don't think it would be necessarily damaging to the FoF community if it wasn't created. Harmonix continued on with Rock Band, and Neversoft and now even Konami are trying to cash in on Harmonix's work

******* HORRID LIST I WILL NOT BUY THIS GAME.
The only songs that even caught my eye were Paramore's "Misery Business", Ozzy's "Mr. Crowley" and "Crazy Train", and Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle", of which I am refretting one.
Not worth it. Not even for the instruments or the song maker.
