Re: Conficker C worm
Other than my parenthetic statement directed at KTown and his stupidity, and the passage aimed at midnight stressing the point that you are vulnerable to attack no matter what OS you use, no one is trying to make this about operating system at all. In fact, the bulk of my post was about malware in general. The parts that I did mention operating systems was done in such a way as to illustrate that someone can h4x you regardless of what you use.

Or at the nearest Scotsman's head. Welshmen will do if you're too far south.
Side note: My school's up to it's neck now. Conficker keeps showing up on the network again and again and again.
Wait what

Re: Conficker C worm
Well that's typical of schools, especially in the UK. My college almost knows what it's doing, because we actually have IT staff (OK, one guy) who knows more than how to use Microsoft Office.
As far as Conficker goes...people have been working on catching it out for months, and it recently paid off. Of course, things got screwed up soon enough.
Simply, the best thing to do is be cautious. Keep up to date. And run firewall and AV software. That goes for any OS.

Re: Conficker C worm
If any one is worried.download Microsofts malicous removal tool the lateset one which is march 2009. Run a full scan of your antivirus and MRT you'll catch anything in your system. i found that little bugger he was hiding on my flash drive. i use windows defender, avg free, and the MRT and haven't had any threat other than conficker and virut(bit*h to clean).

I doubt that this is only a joke. I believe Conficker C worm will perform malicious actions on April 1st as many people have already mentioned. I have also found a manual Conficker C removal guide: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-conficker-c.html

Oh, I'm not doubting something will happen; I just think it won't be as bad as people are making it seem.

Don't come near me.
Oh and yeah, what Lys said. Just because it's Linux. Doesn't mean you're invincible.

Re: Conficker C worm
have to agree with marvinPA. you are not safe on any os really. no one writes viruses for macs because they suck balls (what's the point), linux is has multiple flavors, but share the same UNIX based viruses (a lot tougher than the windows kinds). A lot of us know what were are talking about. i posted earlier i found it on my flash drive and i killed it (pretty much). Or do what i do dual boot linux with windows. My flavor is Mandriva (soon to be Ubuntu) and i boot with XP

You might want to rethink that. Mac was the first to break at a hacking contest, as in don't blink or you'll miss it:

Re: Conficker C worm
no one writes viruses for it in the first place, no one is saying it is difficult to hack
