hm Alright, sounds good enough for me.

Same here, I had to go through and count beat lines and change bpms to get it all set up. Takes a while but it works.

I finished the first draft of my "Midnight Show" pro guitar chart:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu5AXfGinGI

This is using a new feature I've programmed to export the chart as an image sequence (PCX files). These can be loaded into VirtualDubMod similarly to raw video, encoded and muxed with audio. The benefit of this is lag-free video of the chart. The only real problem for me to resolve for this chart is that I hard-coded it to conform to the 17 fret limit for the Mustang, but it uses fret 19 on some chords at the end.

but yeah, cool chart.

There's pro bass support, right?

When you release this, I'm gonna instantly fret Sea of Lies PRO-chart.
If someone is able to pass that... MAB can suck my toes.

Does RB BTW show chords on the side of the fretboard like they were on raynebc's EoF-vid? Because that would make at least my playing easier, having a real guitar.

Those are the lane colors that EOF always used. I could ask NewCreature about changing it to match Rock Band.

There's pro bass support, right?

Yep. At this time, it's the exact same functionality as pro guitar.

Rock Band displays some of the more common chord names on the side of the track at chord changes, but they don't do this for all chords. EOF will let you name any note/chord whatever you want, but it's not clear yet if Phase Shift will support custom naming.

I wouldn't be opposed to making graphics for EOF...
I tried looking through the source code to find something i could change, but i couldn't find anything.

All the pre-rendered graphics are stored in an Allegro data file (eof.dat). You'd need to use the "grabber" utility to extract or add any content:
http://www.allegro.cc/depot/Grabber/

The graphics are pretty simple in order to keep performance up, but the upcoming release of Allegro 5 may be able to remove some bottlenecks.

That looks pretty nice! If you are able to make the remaining ones for a set, I could mix them into EOF. It shouldn't be too hard for me to come up with a system for letting the user select which gem image set to use. As long as they conform to the dimensions of the original images (currently 48x48), they should work easily in EOF. I believe that each lane just needs one each of the following:

1. The gem in its normal state
2. The gem when it's "hit", ie. selected/played (usually this is just a lighter colored version of #1)
3. The gem when it's a HOPO
4. Then gem when it's both a HOPO and "hit"

We can look into having Allegro scale down images as necessary, and making EOF more flexible with the note image sizes, and perhaps one day it could even support loading gem graphics from installed FoF themes. NewCreature had looked into being able to grab fretboard backgrounds from FoF, but it might take until EOF is ported to Allegro 5 (when it comes out) in order to use some of the OpenGL functions to make it easy enough to bother with.

Actually i did get a .pcx to load in eof with that grabber program, and you might have to make drums use the green images instead of pink/purple, or create a seperate image for that lane.

Edit:
and BTW, they were only mockups...

Image

and shocking discovery! i can use a different colour table for each file!

(because of the file format EOF uses, you can only use a certain amount of colours, called a colour table or pallet,
but since there can be a pallet for each file, you can have whatever colours you want.)
Edit:
Woo, i've gotten it completely shaded using only 60 colours!

That's looking great! About the coloring, EOF doesn't force 8 bit color mode, but it is a user option to display EOF with 8 bit color depth. If they did that, then it could cause problems with higher quality (ie. more colors) note gems you could make, but I doubt many (if any) people have a reason to set EOF to 8 bit color mode, as that lowers Allegro's graphics performance if the OS isn't also in 8 bit color mode. For now, I have the image sequence export logic change the rendering to 8 bit color just to make the outputted images smaller, but I can always change that. If you really wanted, you could probably even create 32 bit graphics and they'd work (except for when EOF uses 8 bit color), but the smaller (in filesize) the gems can be, the better.
