Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
I don't think that will work. It won't export the lyric with '#' appended so it won't count as a "talkie." It might make sense to automatically append the '#' when the lyric is defined without a pitch. I will put this on the issue tracker.

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
Those are both two different ways to chart freestyle vocals, although I can't guarantee that defining the lyric without a pitch (so that it is drawn in gray instead of green) would make the lyric sing-able in the game. The most sure-fire way to make it usable is to append the # character at the end, but as per NewCreature's notes, there might need to be some changes for this to export as expected.

Thanks for the responses.
When I tried to play the vocals with the gray pitch for the talkies it didn't show up in the game without the # added to it.

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
hey, iv never used the EOF before, (i'm generally new to Frets on Fire as a whole) and ive started experimenting with it today. It seems really cool, but i noticed a problem when i try to use the file ingame. The whole song is out of sync, only that song, and only on FoF, seems perfect on EoF. any help, and please tell me if im not supposed to post this here (sorry if im not, this is my first post).

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
If the audio cues (claps, metronome) are in sync in EOF, but not in FoF, then your AV delay in FoF is probably incorrect. Start a decrypted (not fan-synced) Rock Band chart in FoF and tweak the delay until it seems to play perfectly in sync with the audio and try your custom chart again.

Did you set the audio files(song.ogg or guitar.ogg) to 44.1kHZ?

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
Hey, my friend and I chart a bunch of songs together. He uses a mac and I use a PC. I was working on one of our charts and I sent it over to him. I charted the song in 1.65 and because he has a mac, he is using 1.6. He cannot open up the files I've worked on now, it gives him this error http://grab.by/4O85. Is there any way that he can chart in 1.6 using a mac while I still work on the same chart in 1.65 using a PC?

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
The .eof file format can change from one version to the next. While backwards compatibility is kept, forwards compatibility is not feasible. You can trade the MIDI file back and forth, but that will cause the chart to lose sync. If you both must work on the same chart on different platforms, you would probably be better off downgrading to version 1.6 so you can both work on the actual .eof file.

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
I was wondering if you guys would ever implement 5-lane drum support (specifically for phase_shift)
I'm not like telling you that you have to or anything, but it'd be relatively easy to implement (or at least i think so)

It wouldn't actually, as it'd involve completely morphing the whole export thing, the graphics, and a ton of other crap.
Maybe for 2.0 though.

I haven't touched a GH related game for 6 months. Woo. My (dead) song thread: Contains horrible things.

Oh yeah :P
Well maybe it wouldn't be easy to implement, but it'd still be nice

I hadn't even noticed "Phase Shift" until just now. While the concept is interesting, I don't know how it would be easy to add a sixth lane to EOF, it may end up being a huge task to add that.

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
The only hard part about adding a 6th drum lane is redesigning the fretboard area to make room for a 6th color. There is room for up to 8 colors in the note data structure and exporting the MIDI is pretty straightforward. It is something I will be looking into soon as I'm already planning on reorganizing all the drawing code to be more flexible.

I haven't personally seen any Phase Shift charts. Assuming they're MIDI files, is the sixth drum lane just one MIDI note higher than the fifth lane?

I tried doing that, but it screwed up the chart.
So, not that's not it.
