FoFiX on Vista
I recently got an Optiplex 360 computer running Vista (Home Edition, I think) and whenever I run the latest version of FoFiX, there is lots of Lag.
The beta 2 seems to be less-laggy, but it still isn't playable.
I have a GeForce 7300 GT graphics card.
There is a lot of space on the computer, I have an external hard drive that stores most of my files.
I hope this is enough information.

Re: FoFiX on Vista
how much RAM does your computer have? I'm running FoFiX on Vista with 2GB of RAM and I only get lag every once in a while/when recording video.

Re: FoFiX on Vista
are you running FoFiX off the external hard drive? because normally the connection from an internal hard drive to a motherboard is much faster than an external drive to a motherboard because of the connection type.
If you are running it off the external hard drive, put it on the internal hard drive and see if it works. otherwise i don't know what to tell ya.

Re: FoFiX on Vista
i have a laptop with a 1.73 ghz dual core processor and 2gb of ram and my frets on fire only lags occasionally, but thats because i use my metalocalypse theme with animated backgrounds when i run megalight it has no lag. i guess you could adjust your video settings like the fps and stuff like that and see if that dosent help.

Re: FoFiX on Vista
Updated graphics card and tried it on the beta.
Put stuff on computer drive.
Put the setting "My PC Sucks!" on Performance/Debug.
It works, a whole less lag, but still not all that playable.
Tried the Autoset off, and the priority 1: low, no difference.

Turning the priority to low might actually make things worse.
I run FoFiX off a portable hard drive on a 1.5 GHz, 2GB RAM Vista laptop and I only get a little bit of lag... Still better on XP though.

It does, im pretty sure Priority 3 is the fastest. Also make sure performace settings are set to static. Putting debug on killswitch and starpower also helps.

one other thing is big computer companies like dell are horrible for pre-installing toolbars and useless programs on there computers so you may have too many programs running in the background. try doing an msconfig and clean out the startup folder too and if you can uninstall some of the dell software you will not use.

You said you have a 7300GT, which is part of the 7 series of nvidia cards, so that should be the right driver.
Lurking since May 2007!

If you have Vista home Premium try disabling Aero (desktop, right click, personalize, window color and appearance, open classic, windows vista basic, OK).
Defrag your hard drive and close down unnecessary processes. Try either windowed or full screen modes.
Different application priorities don't affect FOF performance unless you're running multiple concurrent tasks in the background (eg torrent clients, DVD burning, video encoding).
