Light CD and CD Cases

##################################

I made low-poly versions of the popular cd models. They are compatible with FOF 1.1, 1.2, even alarian's mod, and can use the same cd and cd case labels as the high-poly originals. To install them just extract the folder in the .zip file into the mods folder, you can do this even in Alarian mod.

Comparison
##################################

*Original High-poly on the left, new Low-poly on the right.*

From 1600 faces to only 256, now that's a drop!
Image

Why does a box need 792 faces? It doesn't! Now it consists of only 11 faces.
Image

The uv-mapping in the original was so inefficient, now it's very simple.
Image

They're just circles and squares, why do they have to be so large? They don't, these low-poly cd's and cd cases trimmed the file sizes by as much as 100kb!
Image

Some people (including myself) had problems and the high-poly models had too many polygons to render correctly.

Now with these low-poly models it will render correctly on any computer that can run FOF.

I got a question, are these low-poly of a lower quality too? Or it's only that they tare smaller file size?

Cause if it's a file size reduction without quality lost, then it's totally great :)

There is minor quality loss as in it isn't as detailed but in game you can't tell. It's just as smooth and the labels render perfectly.

Just look at the in-game screenshots at the end, they look almost identical except that the cd case isn't shaded.

Ok :) I'm gonna DL and compare :)

Do you plan on doing the guitar case as well? I use them instead of CD cases one, just wanted to know ^^

EDIT: Forget what I said, you done them. It's just that by search "light" in topics names only didn't work :p

These are so cool, great work. I'll use these now since the old polys gave me problems...

Check my sig, they've been around for awhile. They might need to be repaired however, back then I didn't know how to do uv-mapping.
