Basically, Ive managed to plug in my MIDI piano into my computer and Im using C2,D2,E2,F2,G2 for the frets notes, but I still have to strum. Im wondering if there is a way or mod to stop having to strum on the notes.

You could use set them as drum keys and play drum songs i think.

Or you could try using joy2key and having every piano button equal 2 keyboard keys like this

c2 = F1+right shift
d2 = F2+right shift
etc.

But I don't know if joy2key lets 1 button = two keyboard buttons at once.

I know someone made a mod for Xbox/PS controllers without need to strum...

Search it, I got to eat :D If I have time after, I'll search and post a link.

EDIT: Here the link: Auto pick or No pick mod

Thanks for the Replies but

-Having a Key equal two button presses screws up when you pull off two notes at one and

- I want it so that the Pick Key is turned off altoghther - not just replaced

When you play the piano, don't you jsut press buttons?
Its kind of silly to have to strum when playing witha keyboard

yeah but if your looking at it that way then it's not really as challenging.... what would be neat would be to set 1p and 2p to different sets of buttons on the same keyboard and to fret like a "lead" and "rhythm" part that's fretted to be played together by 1 person. Imagine a dope freeze pop song like less talk more rokk with 10 buttons. Now That would be Paino Hero. I don't see how what your doing right now could be more fun than playing guitar hero with the regular ps2 controller instead of the guitar.

You could also try this: http://www.synthesiagame.com/
It's sort of like guitar hero, except for the piano, and it lets you import any midi that you find on the web, so there's a lot of songs that you can use on it.

i dunno you probably have to have someone who can fret drum songs make custom songs for you. drum songs are the only way i know of to accomplish exactly what your looking for (and then you could only play with 4 frets without it looking wierd on account of how the bass pedal [orange note] is displayed) Then the point about the 2 hand playing would be null in void because I dont believe drum songs have like co-operative parts like playing a lead guitar and rhythm guitar together. So if you did play a drum song on 2 player then both your hands would be doing the same thing (and you would have 2 seperate scores)

Maybe you should post a thread for some coders to make an actual Keytar/Piano hero mod/game. Have everything set up like drum notes (but with more "fret" buttons and a wider "neck"). Or just play that rad midi based game that was posted earlier in the thread. If I had a midi keyboard I would totally try that.

For a instrument like the piano, you might as well learn to play the real thing.

I could easily "fret" some piano song and all I want is to stop the need for a pick - I didnt realise it would be such a hassle. I tryed the MIDI based game and I have to admit its even harder than playin the piano normally.

We keep telling you, the only way currently known how to do what your asking is to play a drum song! In order to stop the pick for all 5 you should find whoever made the drum mod and ask them to make a patch that registers the frets the same way but displays them the normal guitar way with 5 buttons instead of 4+the BPM line. As far as I know there is no tapping mod but try using the search button. I doubt any high scores achieved this way could be uploaded though.
