for me it works fine...and megaupload - 270-290 KB/s (for me)

ok 3.020 beta1 definitely fixes some problems, but i hate to say it.. theres another hopo issue. the chorus in "all nightmare long" (on hard) , its basically impossible to strum every note. i fail 100% of the time on that part if i strum it all with hopos on, and pass 100% of the time with hopos off. theres gotta be an issue there.

ps. could it be that the hopos alter the hit window? ive noticed the accuracy numbers bounce around wildly when im strumming up and down very steadily in parts.
edit: nevermind i guess moving my fingers into place before i strum would sometimes catch the window and count it as early, etc.
...the pain

OK that song is ridiculously long. You can't seriously expect me to strum every note in that song on hard for each testing cycle. You're going to have to isolate the note pattern and fingering pattern that cause the problem as a first step - I absolutely cannot help you until this happens. And upload a log file from playing that song with HOPO Debug turned on, at the very least, if you can't record a video, so I might get some better idea of what the problem might be.

Best would be to make a test song with the problem note pattern, and confirm that you have the problem isolated. Then send me the test song so I can reproduce the bug. That ultimately leads to a fix - if indeed there is a problem.

ugh.

puppetz, if you are referring to the overdrive strings, you can simply remove that file from the theme. Like many other features that I added, that one is completely optional depending on whether or not the appropriate file is there. Look through your theme images and experiment.

Now when I load a song, it's just a blank screen and I guess the log file indicates no errors so I'm not sure. Other versions of frets with mods worked for me but I can't get the mfh mod to work.
I reinstalled and got the log file again with the no iteration error.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "FretsOnFire.py", line 36, in ?
File "GameEngine.pyo", line 226, in ?
WindowsError: [Errno 3] The system cannot find the path specified: 'data\\themes/*.*'

Thanks for responding and sorry for the lack of knowledge on my part.

Looks to me like it can't find your theme folder. >_> Do you have a theme folder in the data folder?

English Reversed, Pig-Latin, and French translations updated for v3.017.

Suggestion, not a big deal, but this would be like guitar hero.

- Song previews should fade in & fade out.

you can make "preview.ogg" files to put in song directories to do this if you really want. In Guitar Hero I don't think it plays the entire song, either, just snippets. So you can make snippets, and have them fade in/out, but the song will just play start to finish (unless you stop it).

It would be fine to have the "ingame Stats"-option [on / off] back :) (atm i have to turn it on/off into the "fretsonfire.ini")

And an option to view the highscores would be fine too. something like: choose a song -> press button "xy" to open highscore list -> press button "aa" -> to view easy -> press "aa" again to view medium ... :)

last question: is there an option to get more then the last 5 results at the highscorelist?

IINM this option has been moved to "Performance settings".

@MFH :
  • please forget my idea of replacing international.ttf by title.ttf : accents are needed for Jurgen is/was here (but nowhere else, IINM) with some languages.
  • This glitch may have been here from the beginning, but I only realized it a few minutes ago; on GH3 theme, when Jurgen is activated, there is a translucent black square on the fret buttons Jurgen is pressing :
    Image

//edit :

    8bit theme :
  • SP lights are misaligned : Image
  • Starnotes are "Static", even if set to "Animated" in "Performance settings".
  • the international fonts are missing the "ç".
  • song.ttf should have its scale reduced; it's currently greatly over scaled.
  • menus should be centered in theme.ini for every string to be fully displayed.

    Gh80s theme :
  • several sub-menus are misaligned and should be fixed in theme.ini.

    RB2 theme :
  • editor.png : the "choose instrument and difficulty" part is redundant with FoF's text, and not always true (for songs that only let you play 1 instrument, for example). Additionally, the file is huge (it seems it hasn't been optimized), and there are stray pixels in the bottom-right part.
Here's a quickly edited version with the text and stray pixels removed, with a reduced file size.

    GhAerosmith theme :
  • Main menu texts are not positioned correctly with high resolutions (e.g. 1280x1024) : stray pixels here and there, the "q" of "quit" is cropped, etc.
  • song information at the begining of a song seems over scaled (but I don't have the original game to compare and see if it's accurate) -- this could be due to the fact that this theme doesn't have a dedicated song.ttf and then falls back on the default one, or perhaps it's because it uses the scaling of the GH3 theme.
  • one of the flames has wrong axes (particularly noticeable when StarPower is activated, since the flames turn blue).
  • hitflames1.png and hitflames2.png are taken from an earlier version of worldrave's GH3 theme and should be updated (I had posted a fix in his official thread, but he could have updated the files further so it's perhaps better to update from his latest revision).
  • menu.ttf uses a deprecated version of the font (one that has messed-up accents). Alexfighter released an update for that font (should be in the latest version of the GH3 theme).

    Gh theme :
  • Main menu background has an inconsistent black part; here's a touched-up version.
  • Same as for the 8bit theme, SP lights are misaligned (and, provided IIRC, should be similar to the ones of the GH2 theme -- same for the dots, BTW : they should be displayed horizontally, not vertically).
  • IMO theme.ini should be edited and opt_text_x and sub_menu_x values added (to have the menus slightly moved to the left).

The weird glitching on the fretbuttons for Jurgen has something to do with the Glow FX option in Visual options. As far as I know, GH3 frets don't glow when you hit a note in the actual game itself, which is why I leave it off. It'd probably be better to fix the problem, but I know which method is easier. =P

I think it might be a glitch with two objects with the same depth in the z-buffer.

I could care less about that little bug though. XD
PM me for my Wii or DS Friend Codes.

Since "DragonFail" "sucks" so much, I won't post anything related or about them any longer.

I've noticed that there for ages, and as far as I know, it's not just the GH3 theme (rb-based themes have it too) and it's not just when Jurgen plays.
I didn't know that about the glow effect option, I'll have to go have a look...
Your z-order theory sounds quite plausible, too.
