They SHOULD be different. There was a tutorial a while back about how you should do a high and low pass filter on the two.

I think that is the correct way to do things rather than the volume. I may have something in there to detect if it's missing and then use the volume, but just not doing one is not a good thing in my opinion.

the fact is that it's 99% the same file and takes a lot of unuseful hard drive space ;)

I found some more songs with no notes.

Sectoid - Feelings
Sectoid - Metal Madness
Sectoid - Escape from chaosland
Sectoid - War of freedom
Aki Latvamaki - Rambo Sankari

These songs are on http://keyboardsonfire.net/?songs
I will find some more later

Thanks for the checking mmsven.

I have a simple fix now, but I have to test it with other songs to make sure it doesn't make them not work.

I made sure to show hidden files and folders, looked in the application data but there is no .ini in there. I even searched all my drives. I would like to change the #5 key to orange. Any help appreciated.

Your FOF.ini should be on . C/documents and settings/ *your username*/ fretsonfire/. if its not there double check your FoF install directory , for some reason mine keeps the ini file there.

The only thing in C/documents and settings/name/application data/fretsonfire is a log file. I have an .ini in the install directory and this is what the [theme] section has listed...
base_color = #FFFF80
background_color = #330000
selected_color = #FFBF00

I have tried adding
fret5_color = #FF9933
under [theme] but nothing happened. I don't understand what's up.

Can someone help me with the labels for category folders? I have 3 folders - Fretsonfire, GH1 and Rock and would like a label on each one. As far as the songs themselves, i want to keep them as cassette tapes but i got that covered already.

Joe,

My guess is you don't have the mod actually loaded correctly, or perhaps an old version.

The ini file should be in the application data dir. If it's in the install dir that's from an OLD install.

Do you see folders for the GH1 and Rock and Frets On Fire? All you should need to do to add the label is to put the label.png in those folders in windows. I should probably update the sample folder zip file so it includes a label example.

Well with the older version i unzipped it and placed it in my games partition and with the newest version i did the same on top of the old. Is there another way to install? I didn't see an exe or anything.
I do see the folders and i did put a label.png into the data\songs\Rock folder but it didn't show up in game.

edit: i got the label to work. Turns out it wasn't named label.png.

Good to hear joe.

I've uploaded a quick fix to the old version.

You can download it here

I've symlinked it to the old url as well so any NEW people who download 2.0 will get 2.01. I included the note fix for a few songs that use non standard track names (the ones mmsven mentioned). I also updated the sample-folder.zip to include the label.png as well.

So far about 130 people have downloaded 2.0. They should download 2.01 to get the fix (you just need library.zip)

I'm getting a "string index out of range" error when I try to skip to a song based on it's first letter.

The diffs folder is for the source code. you don't need it most likely Joe.

As far as the string index out of range, my guess is you have an empty folder. I'll try to make it handle that error a little better, but it should not have anything to do with the hot key. If you try to go to a letter you dont have it just doesn't go anywhere.

I have nearly 5 gigs of music and have tried a lot of keys, it's safe to say they aren't empty folders and I surely have many songs that begin with the letters I tried. I really want this feature to work since I have such a large listing of songs, it takes forever to get to one that's in the middle as you can imagine :p
