Def_Monk's Background Thread

Postby Def_Monk » Tue Jul 07, 2009 11:06 am

This is my background thread. I will post my custom animated backgrounds here. (Duh) All my backgrounds are large! Be aware, these are not for the faint of heart. If your computer cannot run them, don't complain to me. THESE ARE HD BACKGROUNDS. They will always be AT LEAST 720p. They are meant to be used in the "Back n' Forth" method of use and with a frame delay of 1 unless otherwise stated.

Yes, these backgrounds will be at least 1280x720 in resolution. Eventually, there may be larger ones if people actually want these.
For those people wondering loading times, this is the computer they are being loaded on. If you do not have a PC similar or better, it's best not to use these anyway. Most load in about 20 seconds on my PC! (If you really want them, I could downsize them too. They would look sharper then but they look good in-game now.)

OS: Windows Vista Extreme Edition, 32-bit. (Essentially a specialized beta-tester's version of Ultimate)
Mobo: MSI K9A2 Platinum, Onboard Audio, Onboard Lan
Processor: AMD Phenom 9950 AM2+ Quad-Core Processor @ 2.6Ghz. (I have all four cores available for FOF at the time. Only actually uses 1.5 of them.)
Ram/Memory: 4GB Dual Channeled DDR2 1066
HDD('s): 320GB Maxtor and a 1TB Seagate Barracuda, Both SATA3.0
Video Card('s): ATI Ice-Q Cooled HD2600 PCI-E Overclocked (x3...yes, I have three of them. Lol.)

#1 - RB Front Stage Background

Download: MF
Size After Extraction: 80.7 MB (84,655,731 bytes) over 101 Frames
Resolution: 1280x720

#2 - RB Drummer Background

Download: MF
Size After Extraction: 110 MB (115,601,105 bytes) over 115 Frames
Resolution: 1280x720
*This is the biggest one I have, and can be displayed in back and forth or regular repeat. Both look fine. (Still frame delay of 1)

#3 - RB Bassist

Download: MF
Size After Extraction: 67.2 MB (70,522,979 bytes) over 99 Frames
Resolution: 1280x720

*If anyone wants other mirrors, I guess tell me and I'll upload it to Megaupload. I figure mediafire should be good though.

!!!*If people like these and want more, tell me. I won't bother uploading more if no one will use them, so comment! I have four more HD backgrounds from RB like this if people want them, just tell me. I might do GH3 ones if I feel up to it. I could get those up to 1080p, along with random other ones.*!!!

Sure, I don't mind. I just didn't think youtube would be able to display it well anyway so I didn't try. I guess it would be cool for just seeing the thing itself though.

I have added another background and I have to say, I'm disappointed. I have had almost 100 views on this board and about 20 downloads and have gotten no comments other then phl's. Is there any way I can improve them? Can that many people NOT run these? Would it be better if I made some resized, smaller versions? Just looking for some kind of feedback here. Lol.

PS>>Sorry bout double post but it's been a week since I made the last one. Lol.

Hey, that's how you sold 'em, man.

Personally, I don't have anything like that kind of computer, and I don't want to wait 20 seconds, either way. I'd be interested in an optimized package (probably with less frames?)

* (WIP) Dali theme v0.8

* Major contributions to:
Jackzilla1's Guitar Hero III beta Gameplay Mod
(vapor) estemhorn's Real World theme

* plastic guitar fret buttons v1.2 (a variation is used in Death_97's Zelda theme)
* push-button fret buttons v1.0
* vibrating strings fret buttons v1.0 <preview> (strings come from worldrave's Guitar Hero III theme)
* mushroom cloud hitflames v1.2 (includes 3 brightness variations) <preview>
* realistic lightning v1.0

* The Urge - "Jump Right In" v1.29 - all difficulties, w/lyrics (3:43)
* The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - "Someday I Suppose" v1.14 - all difficulties, w/lyrics (3:28)
* (WIP) Fishbone - "Party at Ground Zero" v0.20 - amazing only (so far), w/lyrics (6:31)

Many less frames and anything other than the drum one would probably repeat too often to look good. If i would make an optimized version, I'd probably just resize and sharpen them. Half the loading times and memory usage. It's just a matter of going through and resizing EACH image.
I'd most likely just make a photoshop action to do it for me and repeat the process. Thats a lot of frames to do that though so I wonder if it would be possible to make my own program... lol.

EDIT: It seems photoshop has a built in process for this, lol. See here...
