Or you could think outside that box of yours and even say a Guitar Hero controller.
Its pretty sweet, but FoF is way better to me. Why? Because I don't need a masculine computer to play FoF. I got into the menus for Guitar Zero, and it was going fast. Then when I tried to do the default songs, the game went slllllllooooooooowwwwwwww. So slow, that it was very unplayable. Whats worse is that I can't configure the video options through the game, but instead I have to use wordpad to open the game's config file up. Another thing, no keyboard support. Jiffy :p.

Well, GZ is here.
I appologize for doubting it earlier. But hey I'm a skeptic.
I've also played it. It runs ok. Small bits of slowdown, but it is doing more than FoF as far as other graphical stuff.
My GH controller works with USB adapter. I played the included 3 songs. The note accuracy seems looser than FoF or GH. i can play lots of notesvery late.
also the HOPO seems leniant anda bit wrong. if you mis fret in the middleof a HOPO sequence, you can just continue with more HOPO without having to restrum. I dont think GH works that way. But at least they have HOPO, I'm still working on that
I imported some FoF songs and those went well (though too much editing to get them in there). I tried importing a GH and GHII song. Those failed. I believe it's becuase the midi2dat converter just looks at the first midi track. Which on GH1 and GH2 is not the first track.
All in all, quiite neat. Good job. Im sure many bug fixes and new features will comeout. this is only a alphaversion. I'll still be sticking with FoF.

Nice, if it weren't for the missing keyboard support... Oh, that's right, I got it to work!
1. Download PPJoy
2. Install
3. Go to control panel->Parallel Port Joysticks, click add, choose virtual in the top box, click add, and done.
4. Go to where you installed PPJoy and run PPJoyKey.exe and choose what keys on the keyboard you want to use.
5. Save the .ini, leave the program running and play!

Charts (Down as of November 25th)
I think if this had keyboard support and a way to easily import songs it would trump FoF. I find the hit detection much more responsive, and I don't see a lot of the timing problems I have in FoF in this version. No slowdown, no apparent memory leaks.
Also, star power works great and so does the whammy bar.

This runs great, and has the potential to look great. It's soooo easy to mod for and i'm currently in the process of knocking up a new stage scene. I'll also be able to use the geometry I've already made for FoF in this. Great for me in terms of showing portfolio work.
