Here's the metallica pak. You will have to use the included tool to extract the .mid and .mogg files if you want to try figuring out the audio end. The midis can be opened in anvil studio and if you remove everything but the unnamed track, PART GUITAR track, PART BASS track and events track, it will load up fine in FoF. The .mogg files are unlike GH2's and maybe someone here can figure out how to get the audio from them.

Why bother with extracting the audio? They are the real songs. We can just get them from the CDs or p2p program.

Oh, and Thanks Dr. Z

If there is more or less "blank audio" (or whatever it's called) at the beginning of the Rock Band version vs the CD version, then it would have to be synced up manually.

As with any remastering, which is what Harmonix is doing with these, there are differences. So far, all the songs I have tried in FoF, have gone out of sync eventually. It'd be worth getting at the Metallica stuff because you can actually hear the bass now.

I was looking around on the web and came across this... SoundForge 9
On the bottom of the PDF it says the supported input and output files. I was quite happy to find it can read .MOGG's and will output OGG's. It seems that while OGG is the generic vorbis format, MOGG is a simplified, audio based format. If anyone wants me to get a copy and give it a shot I will. :p
Life would be so much easier if we just had the damn source code.

Wow, sorry for double post but I have some progress. I downloaded the aformentioned program and am in the process of downloading the metallica pack. I'll extract the files from it and try to convert it. We may have some RB songs shortly. Seems I'm gonna have to get a drum perephrial soon. xD (Seeing as hering mod has drum support already. xD)

Guys ! not to p*ss on your parade, i too would love the rockband songs, but you cant go postig links to illegal programs on the forum.
For the exact same reason, that the links to GH3 were banned.

Good luck on the conversion tho!! :)
