I think your never having used them is what lead to your utterly uninformed and hilarious post. I'm totally saving that for later, too. Just to show people to cheer them up.
Also I'd gladly help seed, I love torrents

i think this would only be a good idea for packs that arnt ACHIVED... then people could grab songs that they need out of certain packs to stop people getting the same songs again and again

if the site only hosted torrents of FINISHED packs that would be better...

ive downloaded guitar heros 1,2,3 some rb2 dlc, puppetz hero 2 all from torrents and they didnt go slow as long as people had seeded. so the torrent thing is a good idea, as long as it has completed packs like all the heroes, albums and stuff. and for the people saying that they get a bunch of songs that they dont want, if you make the torrent with folders of each song, not one big .rar file, you can select what songs you want and not download the ones you dont.

all that probably didnt make sense so in short, yea its a good idea.

Made perfect sense to me.

I'd be glad to help seeding but only if they're structured as folders and not with archives. A archive of each song could be a good idea though.. Also about the virus part.. If anyone upload viruses intentionally I think that'd deserve a ban from the forums.

I would like this idea, because I could seed my songs fast to other people. And files dont get deleted. Please create such a private tracker, I would enjoy to use it.

EDIT: Don't you guys see how great a private tracker would be? Many songs and packs cleanly ordered in a big database, and people seeding their own songs, it would be awesome if that would work.

Achives are already hosted on things like mediafire and rapidshare... the same for single songs... so we would only host large FINISHED projects, thus we wouldnt have people downloading new versions of anything either :)

It's good, but you would probably need a team of staff to play the songs, and review them. If the charts are horrible they don't need to be put in there, so that those individuals who actually have good charts can expose them. And it gives the users more satisfaction using the torrents if it doesn't have any BS in it.

I think the only things that should be put in torrents like this are large, completely finished packs. It's pretty pointless to have torrents for individual songs or even custom songs, as those are already easily attainable. But if, for example, the entire GH2 set list was in one big torrent that was easy to find, that would be cool. Lots of noobs come here asking where to find the GH/RB songs; this way we can just point them to one place where they can download everything they need in one big pack.

as i said... finished packs... so fretters on the good fretters list would have THEIR packs shown... and others would try to get on the thread :)

I'm not sure if you understood what I meant, for example there's a difference between a torrent with
Career: example
  • Tier 1/
    • song1.rar aprox 5 mb each or so
    • song2.rar
    • song3.rar
    • song4.rar
    • encore.rar
  • Tier 2/
    • song1.rar
    • song2.rar
    • song3.rar
    • song4.rar
    • encore.rar
  • Tier 3/
    • song1.rar
    • song2.rar
    • song3.rar
    • song4.rar
    • encore.rar
etc

Or one with:
career: example.rar (aprox 200 mb)

Also how many times haven't one seen a 99.98% available torrent. If the folder structure is uploaded instead of one big archiveIt's a lot easier to find the missing piece of data. look around and download the one song that is not available in the network, via mediafire, rapidshare etc that might have it.

I do agree that it's mainly usable for larger release, although smaller packs might also be fairly good to torrent out, maybe. in worst case scenario, when songs are to be updated, there could be some sort of notes.mid where the fretter can update the file, and also point out the full address to it in a description text file within the torrent archive.

In any case. Go for it. It seems to be well recieved from what I can tell.

Lmao man the comment bout it being illegal made me giggle. Anyway, I mainly use torrents for bigger files. It would have been nice to have a torrent of the Guitar hero and rock band complete song packs, I spent awhile downloading all of them. I think alot of people just believe some of the bad publicity the torrent protocol has got and want to shy away from it. I'm for this idea, Don't go making the prettiest site, Just something thats function and can be used as an alternative to upload sites.

One thing i'm thinking might be an issue though is people moving the songs once they finish the download, I know I have a certain way I organize and name the stuff on my computer, I dunno if the torrent program would recognize it as the same torrent files and let me seed if I reorganized the files.

COPY... leave the directory structure as is for the download... if each song is in its own .RAR archive you have to extract them anyway...
