*runs off with play money* Hay look! I have $999.98 now too :D.

Hmm... How hard is something like this to do with someone who has only spliced wires together to make a longer ethernet cord, a cross over cable, and added a USB attactment to a Xbox Controller? Would I just have to take apart a USB controller (or a Playstation controller like I have in mind) and lengthen the wires to buttons and put new buttons on them? I'd like to do this to a small accoustic (or maybe my old strat).

you've got yourself a DEAL!!!

nah, seriously tho, i'd just get an xbox 360 guitar hero controller, because it already had a usb plug, and it's be cheaper... tho a custom one would be nice, i don't have that kind of money... T_T... an xbox 360 GH controller would work on the PC right?

I saved that tutorial and I'm going to do that to my old strat. Going to buy a 2nd GH guitar for parts though. Don't want to **** up mine. And, I want something that is portable.

What types of buttons did you use? I made something similar, but I used the buttons that the toy came with and they were unusable.

I would and COULD still use an XBOX controller, and as I stated before I was going to use a wired regular xbox 360 controller so I could play guitar hero, but there is no strum on the regular controller. I wanted to keep this relatively cheap, and since it is almost impossible to find a used guitar hero controller at this time, I went with what I had.

As for the buttons, I used some "soft touch" buttons that are standard issue at any radio shack. (They're red and squared)

As for completing it easily, the soldering is a cinch if your old controller doesn't have a wax coating. I just soldered a wire to each side of where the original buttons were located, and connected the other ends to the switch. Somebody on this board has pictures up. Just making it work is easy, making it look decent requires some woodworking skills, and tools, of which I have neither!!!!!

I also seen this some time ago.

http://www.instructables.com/id/EBWOWVK2PPEXCFG5WI/

It uses a USB keypad, with that idea you could put the makings of a guitar for FOF in just about any thing.
