it really just takes time and practice. if you have any friends that have GH, try that out and do the tutorial on that. it helped me a lot and i was just big into DDR. before you know it, your left hand and right hand will somehow be working together without you even thinking about it if you've play...

if needed, follow the example of the three songs that come with the game. each song needs it's own folder with those 4 files in it as stated above. load the game and they should show up in the list now!

I'm not too great at linux, but I imagine you could make a script called something like fof.sh that has both of those lines (the cd command and the ./FretsOnFire command) in it. that might give you a single-line working command

Or perhaps offer the setting to preview the song upon (F1-F5) keypress. That would avoid any changes to the .ini files
