Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
Do you happen to know how the audio driver is different since the upgrade? It's not using a proprietary audio driver or anything is it? No clue, sorry. As far as I can gather, it's using alsa. I have no idea why EOF isn't working, and I never checked the sound stuff previously, so I have nothing to...

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
Ah. Well, given EOF didn't give this error before I upgraded, I'm gonna go with OS. My hardware hasn't changed.

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
I should still have my 8.10 CD... somewhere. And if you've seen my room, you know what a problem it is if I can't immediately point to at least the general area it should be in. Having already had a look for the CD once, it's probably not where it should be. Other than that, all I've got are my Wind...

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
If none of the drivers work there isn't much you can do. The Windows version of EOF works in Wine so that is the only other option. Actually... it doesn't. Tried that too :P No sound. Not to mention that the jerkiness of the interface when using it with wine makes it pretty much unusable anyway. I ...

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
Ah. Well, I tried doing that with just what you linked me to and it didn't work, which was why I was looking at it more closely. EDIT: Also tried substituting with each sound driver on the list for unix, also to no avail. EDITx2: And tried installing alsa, but apparently I already have it, so appare...

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
Um... what if I don't know some of those settings? Or a lot?

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
*sighs*
Hi, I return, again with a problem that seems to elude a google search fix.
I've now updated my xubuntu to 10.04, installed all the packages I did before, ran the Makefile, etc... and now when I try to open EOF it says it can't set up the sound and refuses to open.
Please help?

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
Thank you, problem found. My searching came up with a couple of allegro packages, vorbis-tools and lame that needed installing, but not libvorbis-dev. Please ignore my PM, I sent it before I spotted your reply.

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
I did run the makefile already, and got allegro via apt-get before that; I managed to get that much out of searches on how to install it. But I still can't find a way to run EOF.

Re: EOF 1.65 (Updated 5/29/2010)
I just downloaded EOF for Linux but I seem to be missing eof.exe and can't work out how to run the program. I've done a number of searches that have been totally unable to find any other mention of this problem. Can anyone shed any light?
