Actually, I don't think people know exactly what causes it. We just know that it's usually solved by updating graphics drivers. It's not FoF's problem specifically, it's the underlying libraries.
Have you made any software changes lately? Any updates?

I think this is caused by the fact that you have some python libraries that are on your system that FoF isn't compatible with, because they're too new.
